Visualizing Your Experience

This Scenery was depicted by me after a rainy day in Islamabad in F9 park. To me this picture has two parts, a road/ pathway and the beauty of nature. And this is exactly how I describe my start two weeks here at Amal academy.

What was the experience like?

I am describing my journey by a road, a pathway because this career-prep fellowship has been nothing less than a road of betterment for me. A path where I was guided to become my best version. This experience has taught me professionalism, documentation, communication, teamwork, leadership skills and humanity. It was a beautiful experience. Just as the sunset is a beauty gifted to us naturally, I was gifted in the form of wonderful memories which I will always treasure in my heart. This journey taught me many things that are core requirements for the professional world.

What were your feelings about the journey at the start?

When I got my confirmation email of selection, I was ecstatic. I was glad of being capable enough to clear the 5 screening procedures of selection and made it through thousands of applicants. I was so grateful. In the first week, there was this feeling like the one we get when we are in a rollercoaster and it reaches its maximum height, the adrenaline. I was thrilled, excited and so happy to start this new journey. I have always been keen on developing new skills so being here made me enthusiastic to learn.

What were the things that you learnt in the first 2 weeks?

The start of Amal Fellowship was based on its first principle, KHUDI. Being a fan of Allama Iqbal, I immediately got caught in this topic. The first weeks made me learn more about myself. What my strengths are, my weaknesses, my aspirations, my goals, my morals, my values and my principles.

What did you discover about yourself in this journey?

Through my fellowship journey, I struggled to be the best version of myself. Perfection doesn’t exist but despite this, I wanted to be as close to perfection as possible. Before fellowship, I was an introvert. A socially awkward introvert who can not get his point across in group discussions. But in this fellowship, I have raised my confidence and now I can confidently speak in front of anyone. I discovered the limits of professional and personal life and the importance of having a reason, a ‘why’ in our life. I was also struggling to find a career-path but this journey has helped me a lot to clear my doubts and gave me clarity on my dreams. It made me realize nothing is impossible, we have the potential to do anything and everything.
